Formed in January 1998, UK's acoustic rock group, Coldplay where discovered during a performance at London's Camden Falcon, by influential journalist and Fierce Panda Records co-founder Simon Williams. Soon after, Coldplay signed a major label deal with Parlophone Records. Following their appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, Coldplay released The Blue Room EP. In 2000, short tours with fellow newcomers Terris and Muse, and breakthrough hits with "Shiver", "Yellow" and "Trouble" helped maintain the hype, prior to the release of their chart-topping debut album, Parachutes. Coldplay followed up with the album A Rush of Blood to the Head which earned them even more critical acclaim and was a huge commercial success all over the world.
