Craig David was born on 5th May 1981, in Southampton, Hampshire, England. Craig's success started in late 1999 and early 2000 in the UK R&B scene. At his early teens, Craig started MC-ing on a local pirate radio station and nearby clubs. Shortly after, he also began DJing, mainly in the well-known UK garage scene where he also met Mark Hill of Artful Dodger.

David's career really started of when he won a national song writing competition. Together with Mark Hill he produced his first club hit "Re-rewind". The single became an instant underground hit and led to appearances around the country. After signing Wildstar Records in 1999 he released another single "Fill Me In" which rose to the UK's number 1 spot in April 2000. His next single "7 Days" was another number one hit. Shortly after, Craig David was named best UK newcomer and best R&B act. In addition, the single "Fill Me In" was voted best UK single. Early 2002, he released the hit single "7 days", which was not only a success in Europe but also in the US. Over the past three years, Craig David has become one of the most popular R&B singers of the UK.
